Tuscany has been on my list of places I must visit for a long time so it was brilliant to spend a few days there with a good friend this week. It did not disappoint in any way, it is quite simply beautiful. Whether you are in one of the towns of Florence or Sienna or losing yourself on the country roads, whichever way you look, the view is just spectacular.
Being Italy, we wined and dined incredibly well and ate everything from simple Parma Ham and melon to the most fabulous steak Fiorentina and for me a mind-blowingly amazing warm chocolate croissant filled with the Italian version of Nutella – what’s not to love?
For me the highlights were well off the beaten track (a word of advice, if you want to photograph the Leaning Tower of Pisa, get there at the crack of dawn, not lunchtime as we did!) The small hilltop towns, the winding lanes, the Strawberry Festival with no strawberries (yes, really!) the trattorias in the back streets of Florence and the simple restaurant we stumbled across in Panzano in Chianti all stole a little piece of my heart! I hope you enjoy the selection of photos from the trip.
