This summer has been one of extremes and it was extremely wet for Michelle and Steve’s wedding at Southend Barns! While it rained for most of the day, it certainly didn’t spoil the day for them and we even got out in the sun for a few photos before the heavens opened again! Here are some of the images from their day.
I began the day in the Milking Parlour with the girls where Lauren from ID Hair and Makeup was working her magic. Michelle looked absolutely gorgeous with a simple floral headpiece working beautifully with a simple, elegant dress by Sottero and Midgely. While the girls were getting ready the boys were enjoying a pint at the nearby Blacksmiths before making their way to the barns.
As guests arrived the smiles and laughter defied the rain falling heavily. The team at Southend Barns are not phased by the rain and were fully prepared with white umbrellas to escort Michelle to the Dairy Barn for the ceremony. As always the Chichester registrars were lovely and the couple were soon husband and wife. They left the barn through a shower of confetti to enjoy a glass of champagne with their guests. We had to take the family group shots in the Dairy Barn, which is one of the bonuses of Southend Barns – the availability of good space when the weather is bad. For the bridal party shots however we embraced the rain and took some shots with umbrellas in the gardens. The rain and the diffuse light make the colours really stand out so not everything about a wet wedding day is bad!
Guests were entertained throughout the drinks reception and meal by brilliant magician Dan Ferrant. Seriously you should check him out, he’s amazing and left the barn to a round of applause from everyone. Field and Fork as usual delivered a delicious meal and then the speeches were both funny and incredibly moving. There was one very special guest appearance during the best mens speech which was perfect.
The couple cut their naked wedding cake before the dancing got underway. Evening entertainment was provided by the totally awesome Doug from Toast DJ’s who never fails to get the dance floor going. I loved photographing Michelle and Steve’s wedding day for them and I wish them the very best for the future!
