Katie and Kirk certainly bought the sunshine over from Australia with them for their gorgeous wedding last week! They celebrated with friends and family from around the world in a lovely, relaxed day. I began by meeting with the boys at Goodwood where they had played golf in the morning before moving on to Katie’s family home for the bridal preps. Katie and her two sisters were all getting ready together and it was lovely as they are so close.
Katie wore an absolutely stunning champagne coloured dress by Australian designer Suzanne Harward, which was decorated with tiny sequins and her outfit was finished off with some beautiful gold Jimmy Choos and emerald earrings, which were a gift from Kirk. The ceremony took place at Birdham Church and the couple left the church as husband and wife in glorious sunshine.
We made a brief stop at Birdham Pool marina for a few portraits before heading off to the reception venue, Southend Barns, which was looking as stunning as ever. The guests arrived on an open topped bus and enjoyed drinks and canapes in the Collecting Yard while we did a few group shots.
The Threshing Barn was dressed with two long tables, which is the first time I have seen it like this and it really did look spectacular with the jars of white flowers on the tables perfectly complimenting the natural beauty of the barn. Each guests name place was a photo of the guest with the couple, which was a lovely touch! Field and Fork excelled with the meal which included mediterranean style sharing plates to begin, Fillet Steak for main and a trio of deserts for pudding. As always the service was faultless. Speeches followed which were funny, heartfelt and touching, just as they should be.
After the meal the couple cut their cheesecake before going into their first dance as husband and wife. I loved photographing this Southend Barns wedding and meeting Katie, Kirk and their family and friends. They will have their full USB drive of images before they head back to the Australian winter next week!
