Saturday was my first time photographing a wedding at Selden Barns, near Arundel. The day dawned cold and wet but the forecast promised sunshine and sure enough by the time the guests left the ceremony, there was blue sky and warm sun and the walled garden provided shelter from the breeze.
I first met Kelly and Leon at the wedding of Ben and Lynsey last year, where Leon was Ben’s Best Man and it was lovely to catch up with them both again. Kelly and Leon both got ready in the lovely rooms at Selden Barns and Kelly was nervous but excited as she had her hair and makeup done with her Bridesmaids. Sarah from Driftwood Flowers had done a lovely job on the bouquets and Kelly looked gorgeous in her Maggie Sotterro dress.
During the ceremony, Kelly’s sister read a very touching poem, which had everyone tearing up slightly and then during the signing of the register, three of the younger family members sang a song for the couple brilliantly. Friends and family are very important to Leon and Kelly so during the drinks reception, they requested quite a number of group shots, which I am always very happy to do as there are so few times that everyone get together. They had guests from all over the UK and as far away as America. The guests enjoyed a BBQ meal followed by excellent speeches by Kelly’s father, who showed a very funny video montage of Kelly growing up, Leon and Best Man, Pete.
After dinner, we took the opportunity to get away for ten minutes for some photos of the couple in a nearby field, which was full of stunning yellow crops. On returning to the Barn, the couple cut their cake before taking to the lovely dance floor at Selden Barns for their first dance, which was to Escape (The Pina Colada Song) Something I have not heard before but which perfectly suited them! Leon and Kelly have gone on honeymoon to Thailand and I am looking forward to catching up with them when they get home!
