Yesterday I was back at Goodwood House for the annual end of year gathering for the current Goodwood Racehorse Owners Groups. This is a brilliant scheme that offers people to experience Racehorse Ownership at a fraction of the usual price. I was very fortunate to win a share in the scheme, which owned Goodwood Mirage, ‘GROG’s’ biggest success to date! Having worked at Goodwood Racecourse in the past for six years, it is lovely to keep an eye on the racing scene and it is always fun to be at Goodwood House, which is also an amazing wedding venue.
The members morning was an absolutely perfect day, blue skies and sunshine and members enjoyed drinks and canapes in Goodwood House before hearing an update on the schemes from outgoing President Peter Jones and the new President, Rod Fabricious. The name of the newest horse was announced and the very handsome son of Kodiak will race as Goodwood Zodiac. He certainly looks the part! Both horses, Goodwood Zodiac and Goodwood M0onlight paraded in front of the house allowing members to get a good view of their horses and both behaved impeccably.
Following the parade, guests enjoyed a delicious meal in the Ballroom of the house and after the meal, popular Channel 4 racing commentator and presenter, Mike Cattermole took to the microphone to auction a painting of Goodwood Mirage, which had been painted by Judy Goodman. The painting which was a copy of one of my photographs sold for £1,600 which will be going to the Moorcroft Racehorse Welfare Centre.
