If there is one thing as lovely as Southend Barns in the Summer, it has to be a Southend Barns winter wedding when the Christmas tree is up, the fires are lit and the fur throws are out.  This is how Rebecca and Thomas’s wedding was at the beginning of the month.  I first met Rebecca and Tom over a year ago and their wedding seemed such a long way away, it was hard to believe when it actually arrived!  I began the morning with the girls in the Dairy Barn as they prepared.  They were so relaxed as Toni Todd and Grace Poston-Miles worked their magic on their make-up and hair.  I always make sure I capture lots of details in the morning, including Becca’s gorgeous, fairytale Alfred Angelo dress.

Tom and the boys were enjoying a drink at The Blacksmiths pub which is just minutes away from the Barns and so I was able to drive down to get some photos of them.  Again the pub was looking beautifully festive.  The weather was unseasonably mild for December and we were able to take plenty of photographs outside throughout the day.

Back at the barns, the guests began to assemble ready for the ceremony which took place in the Dairy Barn.  The Chichester Registrars as usual were really friendly and I was able to photograph throughout the ceremony.  Once the ‘I do’s” were complete, guests enjoyed drinks and canapés served by Field and Fork while we took the family group shots outside in the collecting yard.

The Threshing Barn was really warm and welcoming with the Christmas tree and lovely elegant green and white table centres and the meal by Field and Fork was absolutely delicious as always!  In the evening, the rain arrived but this added an extra dimension to the Threshing Yard, which looked lovely with candles burning in lanterns and the open fires reflecting off the wet stones.

I love photographing Southend Barns winter weddings and if you would like to discuss your wedding at Southend Barns, please do get in touch!
