It was four years ago that James and Mark first contacted me to enquire about photographing their wedding. On Friday, on the warmest and sunniest October day certainly I can ever remember they married at the beautiful Leez Priory in Essex. What a wonderful day it was, the weather was just the icing on the cake! It was a day filled with love and laughter not just between James and Mark but the warmth from their families and friends was palpable and it was such fun to be a part of this very special day.
It was my first visit to Leez Priory and I certainly hope it won’t be my last. It is a stunning venue with so much scope for wedding photography both inside and out. One of the lovely things about this wedding was that the couple got ready together, ably assisted by the four year old Best Man who loved helping with tying cravats and liberally applying aftershave!
The ceremony was emotional with more than a few tears shed. I even admit to shedding a couple myself. After the ceremony, the guests were able to enjoy the unseasonally warm weather and enjoy drinks outside and games on the lawn while I took the group shots – I have rarely seen as much confetti as there was at this wedding.
The dining room looked lovely decorated in seasonal colours including berries, chilli peppers and pumpkins and after the meal, the speeches were equally funny and touching (yes more tears!) Best Woman Ruth had everyone in stitches with her marriage survival kit and her take on the Queen song We Will Rock You – brilliant! After dinner, everyone was able to relax in the comfortable reception rooms and they were entertained by probably the best wedding magician and mind reader I have ever seen. I think this selection of images shows just what a fun and relaxed day this was. It was a privilege to photograph the day for James and Mark and I am really looking forward to sharing their full wedding gallery with them soon. My thanks to Paul Grace who came to second shoot for a couple of hours during the day.
